Your warm laugh is the first thing I remember about you. It would herald your arrival long before I was able to turn around and see you. And it stays with me long after you're gone. Even as you left you were laughing. Through your tears and your heartbreak, I could still that potato I fell in love with. I remember that night. It was the two of us, Fido and the stars. We were looking down at the lake behind your house. And I told you, I told you. I couldn't keep it inside. And I left, like I knew I would. All I have left is your flower hat, forgotten one late night in my car. You asked if I knew where it was. I did, but I lied. I wanted to keep something of yours even after you were gone.
