Electronic recordings are generally not allowed because then people could walk around with audio/video streaming to a secure server and it would be impossible to kill them or accuse them of a kill that they didn't make. Chat logs, etc aren't quite as bad, but they are disallowed for the same reason. Basically we spend too much time interacting with technology that logs (almost literally) everything for such logs to be allowed.
