Are we going to elect a new mayor? I'd like to see dgrazian, mchang, or myself become mayor.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm not sure if I would recommend dgrazian for mayor. At this point his conscription is either about to or has already happened, and the mayor's ability to count the Mafia is one of the only ways we have to detect this.
If we really want to have him as mayor we need the prophet to check him after a reasonable delay.

The mafia cannot conscript Daniel (or mchang) until tomorrow.

I would like to run for mayor and would like my friend JB Parkes to run for Police Officer. There will be petitions in Black Hole kitchen if anyone wants to sign them.

I would avoid voting for dgrazian. I feel that Mafia would get him conscripted sooner or later.

First of all, you can be basically positive that I am innocent right now. Dalton is publicly mafia. If I were mafia, there would be no reason whatsoever to throw Dalton under the bus like that.

Therefore, I was innocent when the whole thing with Dalton erupted this afternoon. And there would be no reason for me to lie about Dalton trying to kill me.

Therefore, you can be sure that Dalton did indeed try to kill me earlier today.

Therefore, I am immune to killing and conscription today.

So, you can be sure that this post is coming from Daniel the Townsperson, not the hypothetical Daniel the Conscript.

It is possible that I will be conscripted. But I probably won't be. Someone else will probably be conscripted for one reason or another. There are lots of people in the game and lots of reasons to conscript. It will be difficult to predict how and when the mafia will use the ability, and we should accept the fact that the mafia will be able to do some damage with it. We shouldn't be so paranoid about it, except in extreme cases.

Consider the following situation. Imagine that there are six confirmed or nearly-confirmed innocents. We are best off, especially for the next week or so, treating them as nearly-confirmed innocents. At worst, the mafia conscript one of those 5 people. Then a small fraction of the information and trust that we give them is betrayed to the mafia. But this is better than not trusting them at all and thereby wasting the huge resource that nearly-confirmed innocents provide. The mafia can only conscript 1 person.

Don't trust X just because X might be conscripted is, I think, almost always a bad idea.

With all that said, I would be a reasonable person to use the prophet on in a week or so, if I am still alive. So would, say, Alex Arkhipov.

The fact that your numbers don't match up proves that you are mafia. You clearly considered yourself one of the six nearly confirmed innocent people, but not one of the 5 people who could be conscripted.

I'd sign the petition for dgrazian to become mayor (in fact, didn't we already have one going?)

I would also sign a petition for dgrazian, with the caveat that we should use the prophet on him at some point.
