Earlier today I found it very useful to essentially confirm another player as town due to them knowing similar abilities as me. If you make town abilities public info or trade the info away, we can't do that anymore ever.

++ to what Linus said. Learning people's abilities can give you a lot of info about if they are town or not and if everybody knows town abilities it becomes much easier to lie about it.
