Lucy had been desperate to prove herself the best of the adventurers at the Legendary Adventurer’s Meeting. She wanted to be a hero, to be the one to defeat the necromancers. So, she started studying more and more powerful magic. She learned flashy spells to stun crowds, as well as spells of subtle manipulation, and with them, she convinced the other adventurers to elect her mayor. She also started using invulnerability spells, leaving her immune to all but the most powerful of magical attacks, along with clairvoyance spells that allowed her to see some amount of information about the nature of people’s deaths. However, as Lucy’s desperation drove her into delving into more and more powerful magic, she found that the magic was beyond her control. Eventually, her magic started to drain her very life force. Her skin started to become pale and gaunt, and she started to lose the strength to perform everyday tasks. Finally, Lucy collapsed on the stairs of the local mage tower, her body a shriveled husk of what it once was, her own magic having completely drained her of life. Lucy dies of desperation. |
