Welcome to Esthetu (pronounced eest-thay-tah), City of Dragons, and site of the Legendary Adventurers’ Meeting, a gathering of talented adventurers with a wide variety of skill sets. Some of you are warriors, used to fighting with swords or bows. Some of you are magic users, wizards studying the arcane arts, druids who are given power by their unity with nature, or clerics who call upon the healing arts of the gods (well, the other, less important gods). Others combine might and magic, imbuing their arrows with the arcane spells or blessing their weapons to be more powerful.

You’ve all been drawn here for the chance to meet other adventurers with interesting tales of fighting monsters or rescuing princesses, and to hone your skills and become even better at what you do. While here, you also have a chance to see some of the beautiful temples of the dragon gods Bahamut and Tiamat, who are said to watch over the city.

However, dark forces have gathered in secret among the members of the Legendary Adventurers’ Meeting. Rumor has it that two among you are secretly practicing the evil art of necromancy, a despicable magic that only those with the blackest of souls can use. These necromancers want to quietly kill the rest of you, then reanimate your corpses to add fodder to their growing army of undead, which they plan to use to conquer the world for themselves. The necromancers are crafty, and have numerous powerful magics at their disposal (it is even said that they can convert the purest of adventurers to their cause, although only once). However, they are still only human (for now), and they can be defeated if you discover their identities and slay them first.

Should you succeed, you will be lauded as heroes. Should you fail, the safety of the entire world may be at stake.

TL;DR: Roles have been sent out. Game actions other than kills can start now. Petitions can be signed, conspiracy/backup lists can be updated for tomorrow, seers can inquire about roles, desperadoes can activate, superheroes can become become investigator/invulnerable for tomorrow, etc. This counts as Day 0, and Day 1 starts tonight at 11 pm. At that point, mafia can make kills.

Everyone should poke asjm, drosophyllum, Daniel Grazian, and svolz to post their freaking intros. Those poor players don't have their roles yet. How sad.

Some rules clarifications that were things people were unclear on:

There is no limit to the number of petitions you may sign in a day.

The mafia’s conscript CAN be the last mafia alive (without them instantly losing).

Game incants are not interruptible (e.g. if someone has tapped your shoulder and said the “I’m” part of “I’m going to make you an offer you can’t refuse,” you can’t stop the conscription by running away or saying “smite.”)

Set-a-traps are regained once the person who has a trap on them dies, regardless of whether or not they were killed by mafia.

Please don’t maliciously edit spreadsheets. This means you shouldn’t change or delete information out of a desire to inconvenience or confuse people. The town spreadsheet should not contain any new information that is not already posted on forums, and so changing it just makes it a pain for people (including gms) to access information in an organized way.

Innocent children can only reveal to 2 people per day.

Backups get get their role at day end, after lynches are done. This means if a mafia dies on day X, and a backup has them backed up, the backup dies at the same time heartbrokenness and desperation deaths are announced.

Gay knight investigations DO NOT see through manipulate the press/frame an innocent. This means if a gay knight gets a positive result on someone who is framed, and they subsequently try to smite the framed person, the framed person says "I don't die," and it is proven that they were framed.

Backups backing up gay knights become vanilla townspeople, as if they had a partner who was not in game.

When pming gms, you should pm both me AND anpere, particularly if it's something time-relevant.

Petitions CAN be submitted electronically, e.g. you can pm us a list people who signed a petition. Don't be a douche and lie. You should give us the physical petition soon though, as it disappears from game.

Can you repost on the forums the list of evil necromantic powers available?

Day 1 has now begun. Mafia kills may now be made, and town may make lynch decisions. To clarify, there was no Day 0 lynch.

Rules clarification:
A seer will see a conscripted mafia's original town role, not a random role.

Will two seers looking at the same non-conscripted mafia get the same result?

The role gotten by seeing a mafia is chosen at random, so there is a 2% chance of this happening.

20% chance of the seers getting the same result. 4% chance of them getting the same result as each other and as what the mafia claimed to be.

There are 5 roles a seer can see a mafia as. So the chance of them both seeing a mafia as the same role
is (1/5)*(1/5) = 4... As I was typing I saw my error thinking 1/25 was 2.... oops

(1/5)(1/5)*5, because there are 5 different roles that they could agree on.
