I'm planning to mayorally investigate maxmurin+brunnerj, unless someone else does before 21:10.

I don't see why you should announce that.. doesn't that just tell the mafia to post something fake?

Eh, fair point. It maybe helps avoid redundant investigations, was the idea; I didn't think of the mafia-faking thing. I'm now doing this regardless.

The reasoning is (as I understand it) to prevent other investigators from investigating the same set. If all investigators randomize, the probability of this happening is small, though. This is also really only a problem if all the investigators investigate at the same time, since if they are more sparsely distributed, they'll usually see other investigators' investigations before making their own, and together with randomization conflicts are very rare.

I'm not sure how I feel about announcing investigations before they are made.

With Monty Hall investigators, it's still reasonably useful to investigate the same pair twice. I think we shouldn't say who we're investigating ahead of time.

Ok yeah I now agree with y'all... I was thinking there was nothing mafia could do since they don't have frame, but yeah.

Investigator Yfn Mayor says {brunnerj, maxmurin} -> brunnerj did not kill Lucy.

Can't Mafia fake investigations regardless? How do we stop that? (By the time we find out, someone in the proxy chain could have died, so we can't trace it back...)

Yeah, they can. We can't really stop it, but we can do the following:

1) Be watchful of investigators that spontaneously start existing after day 1. They might be mafia who have decided to just start proxying stuff later, last a couple days, then kill their proxy off. That said, they could also be desperadoes, but I think given only 1 investigation, it's probably optimal for desperadoes to just self-proxy immediately before dying.

2) Trust investigations somewhat more when you know their source. (That'd be mayor, PO, and proclaimed-self-proxied investigations e.g. from about-to-die desperadoes.)

Er, the point of (1) is that if they kill off their proxies to prevent it being traced back, they can't then start faking being another separate investigator; any investigations they proxy out have to be coming from a source that existed from the beginning.

Investigator Aru Akise says that {Linus, agrebe} returns Linus as the innocent one.

Additionally, this investigator's original proxy was Maya, who read the PM but did not post the investigation.

Shouldn't a group investigator have a non inno for Bayesian evidence

Group investigation are normal: they just say a set of people and find out whether any of them made a kill.

Today I have two investigations! I used them both for Lucy's death since we are closest to finding her killer.

Mayoral: {isaacg, michikyo} says michikyo didn't do it.

Desperado: {isaacg, Linus} says Linus didn't do it.

Since jamb claimed isaacg is 50% less sketchy, I think one of those cancels and we have just one negative investigation against isaacg. I marked so on the spreadsheet.
